I'm particularly fascinated by the relationship between the conscious and the subconscious. Lately my subconscious has taken on an even more significant role in my work, which has manifested vividly as color relationships and a shift towards abstraction. I make figurative art with an abstract perspective. I use reference photos, researching light, shadows and shapes. I'm looking for a way to convey the atmosphere, but I don't follow the image too much, I only choose the most important details. I'm working layer by layer, I wipe, add and thin the paint a lot. A lot of thin layers, but I still want the brush mark to be visible. I want to capture small glimpses of fleeting moments when something has just happened - or is just about to happen.
